NWHM BOARD MEMBER BIOGRAPHIES

Susan Sudman, Secretary

Ann StoneSusan Sudman is an independent management consultant based in Washington, DC. With 25+ years of experience in business strategy, planning for growth, and organizational development, she has helped a wide variety of not-for-profit, healthcare and financial services organizations improve their market, operational, and financial performance. Previously, as a Consulting Partner at both Ernst & Young and KPMG Peat Marwick, Ms. Sudman worked with complex organizations to identify areas of needed change and initiate the strategies to achieve it. Ms. Sudman’s clients have included educational institutions; national healthcare systems; insurance companies; government agencies; and Fortune 500 companies. She also has assisted several global financial services firms with product development, acquisitions, and due diligence on financing transactions.

She has been a frequent lecturer on a wide range of management issues and appeared as a guest expert on national and local television and radio. Ms. Sudman has been published or quoted in a wide variety of national publications on such topics as CEO leadership strategies, organizational effectiveness, and mergers. Recognized for her business achievements, Ms. Sudman was featured in a Working Women magazine cover story as one of “75 Women Ready To Run Corporate America”;  St. Louis Magazine as one of the “Top 40 St. Louisians”; and in Today’s Chicago Woman as one of the City’s “150 Power Brokers.”

Ms. Sudman has been active in not-for-profit advocacy. As a Board member of the Society for Women’s Health Research, she chaired both the Planning and the Nominating Committees and also served on the Investment Committee. She also was a Board Director of the Mental Health Association of Metropolitan Chicago. She has encouraged women to be a more active and effective voice in national affairs, organizing training sessions on legislative advocacy for women business owners; the Ruth Jackson Orthopaedic Society (female orthopedic surgeons), and Women in Psychology Political Action Group of the APA. Before joining the NWHM Board, she provided pro bono consulting services to the Museum in support of its commitment to secure a permanent site on or near the National Mall to honor women’s contributions to the Nation.
 
Ms. Sudman earned her Masters of Science degree from The Sloan School of Management at The Massachusetts Institute of Technology, with a dual major in Marketing and Organization Development. She received a Bachelors degree, cum laude, in Psychology from Tufts University.
