Brocks Gap Heritage Day

Part history day, part community reunion, Heritage Day celebrates our family roots in the Brocks Gap part of Rockingham County. Over 130 different photo displays of old photographs highlight families, everyday life and activities, churches, and schools of the area. Visitors can use Pat Ritchie’s personal library of family, local, and regional histories. Bring old family documents (like letters, Bibles, tax receipts, etc.) and photographs about Brocks Gap families to be copied for future books. An additional copy is given to James Madison University Library for preservation.

Ever wonder how the first First Lady entertained her guests? What is the proper way to hold a teacup with no handles? Here is your chance to experience history with Martha Washington as she discusses 18th century tea customs as well as clothing and dancing of the period. 18th century tea includes the museum's special blend of tea, pound cake, dried fruit, and assortment of cookies. Party attire requested. Program time is 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. and the cost is $25 per person.
